What are Sexually Transmitted Infections?

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), sometimes called sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that can happen if you have sex (anal, vaginal, and oral) with someone who has an infection. In general, STIs don’t always have symptoms, so it is important to be tested with each new sexual partner. The best way to protect yourself against STIs if you choose to have sex is by using a condom. Find out where to get tested here.

Protect yourself by understanding how STIs are passed between people AND knowing the basics about each STI.
