In a supportive housing setting, your housing is funded by the state, and you have access to other services designed to help you succeed. These services include alcohol and substance use counseling, mental health programs, job training, transportation, child care, case management, and others.
In Illinois alone, there are many different organizations that provide supportive housing. You can also contact your local CoC and you will need to go through a housing need assessment.
